Pirates pitcher Ryan Vogelsong took a fastball to the head while he was at the plate against the Colorado Rockies yesterday. The crazy thing is that it happened right after Pirates announcer Greg Brown talked about how they didn't want to hit him, because the bases were loaded.

The other announcer, Steve Blass, asked how the Rockies should pitch to him, and Greg said, "Don't hit him."  Then he got hit in the side of the head on the next pitch, got carted off the field, and went to the hospital with an injury to his left eye.

Vogelsong has been admitted to the hospital, but there really hasn't been any additional information given about his condition.
