Who would've thunk it? The Iowa Hawkeyes have just completed a perfect regular season with a 28-20 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I posted a blog back in September where I said I thought this team could win 9 games. Well, turns out they could win 9 games, so I was kind of right! I would've never predicted 12-0. This team has surpassed expectations, no matter how you look at it. But oh so many questions remain.

We've heard all the doubters for the past several weeks. Nobody should be surprised that they're still out there, even with a perfect regular season. I wrote about their less-than-formidable schedule in that September blog. I posted another long-winded blog way back in March stating that Iowa basketball and football fans would probably never see a national championship. Part of my argument was that the program doesn't bend the rules enough to play with the dirty elite programs. Well, all that hot air, including mine, is about to go out the window. The legacy of this team will ultimately be decided on the field.

This Saturday (12/5), it's the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. From here on out, whether it's 2 or 3 games, the Hawks will be facing elite opponents. Will the Hawks get run out of the stadium against really good competition? Will all the Ferentz-haters (I never was) conveniently forget their off-season pleas to have him run out of town as they cheer the Hawks on in a 4-team playoff for the national championship? Will this team prove they are no fluke? Well, I have my predictions... but predictions are kind of like opinions... and opinions are kind of like #@!holes... everybody has one. Let's just see how this thing plays out!
