Our Rave Run on 8/16 supports the Cedar Rapids Park & Rec Financial Assistance Program for the Youth of Cedar Rapids

KRNA and Townsquare Media/Cedar Rapids are set to go with the summer's biggest 5K run and party of 2014. The Rave Run is Saturday, August 16 at McGrath Amphitheater. We are very proud to team with the Cedar Rapids Park and Recreation Department. They have a fantastic local initiative called the Financial Assistance Program.

This program directly infused an estimated $12,000 last year into our community for families in need. Over 750 participants welcomed the assistance from CR P&R. The Financial Assistance Program provides discounts for swim passes, recreation programs, etc. for low-income families in Cedar Rapids.

For most families, being able to afford activities for kids is an afterthought. But, many in our town struggle to make ends meet. Extracurricular costs for their children are just not affordable.

It's a major plus that one of the coolest parties of the year also comes with this fantastic charity. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go directly to the CR Park & Rec Dept. That's a win-win. After the 5K run, DJ Dave A will spin the party mix as we close the McGrath Music On The River Series for 2014. We'll get decked out in neon and run a 3.1 mile course in downtown Cedar Rapids. It's going to be a really cool scene.
