[UPDATED] Person Killed In Mt. Vernon Road Crash Identified

The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the deceased from a Thursday morning crash. He's identified as 75-year-old William Zahn of Cedar Rapids.

[ORIGINAL STORY] According to a release from the Linn County's Sheriff's Office, a morning accident at 1001 West Mount Vernon Road, northwest of Mount Vernon, claimed the life of the driver of a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer.

Linn County Sheriff's Deputies, Mount Vernon Fire, and Lisbon-Mt. Vernon Ambulance responded to the call at 5:51 this morning. Authorities believe the vehicle entered the north ditch while traveling westbound, hit the driveway of the West Mount Vernon Road address above, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a bean field.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not been released.
