On Saturday, September 5th, the Iowa Hawkeyes will take on the Illinois State Redbirds at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City to kick off their 2015 season. The Hawks are saying "Be Bold Wear Gold"... I have a feeling they don't care what colors you wear, just buy a ticket! With some fans growing impatient with perceived mediocrity, plus a rather drab home schedule, there's a chance Kinnick could have a lot of empty seats this year.

Kirk Ferentz is entering his 17th season as Hawkeyes coach.  It's been more than a decade since his football team reeled off three consecutive seasons where they finished ranked in the Top 10 with at least 10 wins (2002 - 2004).  As a matter of fact, Iowa hasn't won more than 8 games in a season since the 2009 campaign. Yes, they've played in a bowl game 12 of the past 14 seasons, but Hawkeye fans want more. Check out my long-winded blog about fan expectations here.
