Cedar Rapids Police are investigating an early morning shooting on the city's southeast side, which was followed by an apparent suicide.

According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers were called to 639 40th Street SE at approximately 4:40 this morning for the report of a shooting. When the CRPD arrived, there was a 35-year-old man inside the home that had "several gunshot wounds." Though his injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening, he was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Cedar Rapids Police also found a 30-year-old man deceased man in the street, outside the home. Police believe he shot the man inside the home, then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An investigation by the Cedar Rapids Police Department has led authorities to believe the shooting was a domestic situation. The CRPD says the man who died had a previous relationship with the woman who lived at the home. Neither she or any of the several children in the home when the shooting occurred, were injured.

The names of those involved in this morning's shooting haven't been released, pending notification of family.
