This area is one of the most prolific in the country when it comes to the literary arts. That fact extends to the world of the stage. There are dozens and dozens of new plays that come out of this region every year, and many local theatres present several plays during some sort of new play showcase.

City Circle Acting Company of Coralville will present its biennial New Play Festival on September 16 at 7:30 pm at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

According to the CCACC website:

The Festival includes nine original 10-minute plays created by authors with a strong Iowa connection: The Third Person by Dan Borengasser; Binged There, Done That by Ken Preuss; Yogafu by Alex Rubin; I, Phone by Tom Moran; I Have a Secret by Marsha Lee Sheiness; Guaranteed by James McLindon; Clipped by Jess Honovich; American Gothic by Allan Bates; and Tea Time by Elijah Jones.

Tickets to the show are $15 and can be purchased online at coralvillearts.org or by calling 319.248.9370 or in person at the CCPA box office at 1301 5th Street and at the Coralville Recreation Center at 1506 8th Street. Seating is general admission.
