New Music Monday

From time to time, I like to share new music with all of you loyal KRNA listeners. Most times, I'll keep it to bands and artists that are fairly below the radar. I mean, we are "Cedar Rapids' and Iowa City's New Music Discovery." Welcome to New Music Monday:

If you're a fan of The National, their lead singer now has a side project. Matt Berninger has teamed up with Menomena's Brent Knopf to form EL VY (pronounced like the plural of Elvis).

I'm loving the vibe. Combine Berninger's baritone and penchant for melancholy with quirky instrumentals, and I'm in.

The band's debut album, Return to the Moon, is set to be released on Oct. 30.
