The City of Five Seasons is a front-runner in the state after new figures were released on graduation rates. The Iowa Department of Education's figures released today show the state's grad rate is up for the fourth consecutive year.

It's up almost a percentage point at 90.5%. That's pretty solid. In fact, it's the best in the nation. That's how we roll around here. This is the stat our collective chambers of commerce should whip out when trying to convince people to move to our state.

Cedar Rapids Community School District numbers are the best statewide with a 4.1% increase. Sioux City is the only district in the state to see a reduction in graduation rates.

They don't get the credit they deserve, so I'm going to give a much-deserved radio shout out to teachers and administrators in this city. We thank them for the hard work you put in every day to ensure our kids are getting the best education possible. Parents like me don't take that for granted. Great work, Cedar Rapids!
