If you love southern style barbecue, this might be your favorite new spot.

It's opening day for Bandana's Bar-B-Q in Cedar Rapids, its first location in the city.

Who's ready for some ribs?

How 'bout chicken?

I spoke with Ron Holtz, one of the managers for the new Cedar Rapids location, and he reports all of Bandana's meats are slow-smoked, up to 13 hours. There's a lot of meat, too. Six major meats, all told. Pork, sausage, chicken, ribs, beef, and turkey.

Bandana's has locations in Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa. You'll find Bandana's Bar-B-Q in Cedar Rapids at 3701 1st Ave. SE. It's located in the standalone building in the Town and Country Shopping Center. Their other Iowa locations are in Ankeny and Davenport.

My co-worker, Danielle, is very familiar with Bandana's thanks to 20 locations in her home state of Missouri. She says her favorite parts of the restaurant are dipping the bread in their choices of barbecue sauce and that the meat is tender and juicy.

I'm sold, how 'bout you?
