Yesterday, I saw some fantastic PGA golf action. The John Deere Classic in Silvis, Il was my first chance to see the pros hit the ball.

The consistency is what you notice first. These guys are practically cyborgs. Perfection ruled the day. Very few mistakes. In fact, the TPC course was shredded. Our Hometown Hero Zach Johnson came in 2nd with a -21, just missing a playoff with first-time winner Brian Harman. The 27-year-old took home $846,000 and earned the last exemption for next week's British Open.

We followed Johnson around for much of the day, and had a good look at most of the rest of the players. I wish I hadn't waited this long to see a PGA tourney, because now I'm hooked.

Kudos to the John Deere Classic officials. They staged a great event. Best of luck to ZJ next week. He had a solid British Open tune-up in the Quad Cities.
