I'm wrapping up my Festival Season 2015 this weekend in Omaha at the Maha Music Festival. Maha has a great lineup this year. The acts I'm going to see:

  • Modest Mouse
  • Purity Ring
  • Speedy Ortiz
  • Alvvays

This has been a great spring/summer. I started Festival Season 2015 in Iowa City for Mission Creek. The highlight of that fest was definitely Father John Misty on the closing night.

Then it was on to Waverly in June for Gentlemen of the Road. Mumford & Sons was the big draw, but I thought Dawes, My Morning Jacket, Jenny Lewis, and The Flaming Lips had the best sets.

80/35 in Des Moines was next. This annual music fest is always a good time -- Des Moines definitely knows how to throw a festival. I really enjoyed the set from Wilco. Weezer had a really energetic set, too.

Hinterland was a unique festival -- out in the middle of nowhere after flooding necessitated a change of venue. We camped out and jammed out with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

Cedar Rapids finally got in on the mix this year with our NewBo Music Festival. Allen Stone and Young the Giant had the whole crowd engaged. If you weren't pumping your fists and singing along to "My Body" as the rain fell, you missed out.

Six music festivals in the span of about six months. Like I said, it's been a good spring/summer.
