Mess with the bull, you get the horns; mess with the Morning Joe hosts, and you get scalded.

This morning (June 30), a day after Donald Trump unleashed a vicious and misogynistic tweet at Mika Brzezinski, the morning news personality and her co-host Joe Scarborough delayed their vacation to answer Trump's venom.

"I’m fine," Brzezinski said during the 7 AM block of the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "My family brought me up really tough. This is absolutely nothing, for me personally. But I am very concerned as to what this once again reveals about the president of the United States."

"He appears to have a fragile, childlike, impetuous ego that we’ve seen over and again, especially with women," she added. "It’s like he can’t take it."

And Scarborough said the attack was just another horrifying testament to Trump's desperation.

"We’re OK, the country’s not," he said. "Yesterday was just another example of how deeply personal he is. He attacks women because he fears women."

Trump was reportedly set off by Brzezinski's reporting that Trump hung up fake Time covers around some of his golf clubs which featured the Commander in Chief on the cover. Trump consequently accused Brzezinski of getting a face lift that was still bleeding by the time the two ran into each other on New Year's Eve. He also insisted she and Scarborough had begged to have dinner with him.

Brzezinski and Scarborough refuted Trump's insistence that they sought his company — in fact, they said they'd reluctantly agreed to meet, and wrote in a statement that his claims were exaggerated, if not totally baseless.

"She did have a little skin under her chin tweaked, but this was hardly a state secret," the hosts wrote in a collective statement. "Her mother suggested she do so, and all those around her were aware of this mundane fact."

"I’m pretty transparent about what I do, and I think it looks awesome," Brzezinski added on the broadcast.
