The search for a missing 13-year-old Marshalltown boy has come to a disappointing end.

The body of Corey Brown was found around 10:45 AM on Sunday in a secluded area on the west side of the city, Marshalltown police said.

According to officials, there is no evidence or information that indicates criminal activity in connection with Brown's death. Authorities said the case remains an active investigation and all possible scenarios are being thoroughly investigated.

Parents and friends have been frantically searching for Brown since late Tuesday evening, when he left home. He was last seen in the area of Jackie Terrace, on the south side of Marshalltown.

Since Brown's disappearance, police have combed the city looking for him and residents have been posting flyers or doing whatever they could in an effort to bring the boy home.

Marshalltown police said no other public information on the discovery of Brown's body is available for release.

Brown's family wishes to thank the Marshalltown and Marshall County communities for all of their support, police said. The family also thanks public safety personnel and volunteers, who worked diligently during the search for Brown.
