Did somebody say melted cheese?!

As far as I know, there aren't many places in the state of Iowa where you can enjoy fondue. But, according to a new article from the Des Moines Register, that could be changing. Apparently, popular fondue chain The Melting Pot is looking to open its first Iowa location!

The Melting Pot's website says that they are "the original fondue restaurant where guests can enjoy several fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads, and unforgettable desserts." Guests can order items ala carte, but the restaurant also offers four-course dinners for two. It starts with your choice of cheese fondue, with options like Wisconsin Cheddar, Fiesta, and Spinach Artichoke. The second course is a salad, and that's followed by the entrée course. There are lots of different proteins to choose from for the entrée, including meats, seafood, and veggies, and those can be paired with a broth like Court Bouillon or Coq Au Vin. Save room for dessert, though! Course four is chocolate fondue with fruits and other "sweet treats" for dipping.

So where in Iowa is The Melting Pot hoping to open their new location? The Des Moines Register reports:

"Collin Benyo, the Melting Pot franchise growth strategist, sees Ankeny, downtown Des Moines or West Des Moines as an ideal location for the chain."

Unfortunately, it could be a while before The Melting Pot opens its doors. The article says it could take around 18 months "from site selection to build out and then training to open the location." We will be sure to keep you updated when we learn more. There are some other Midwest locations you can visit in the meantime, though! The Melting Pot has restaurants in Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
