Ice Cream/Porker Combo Delivers As One Of The Three Great P’s of Iowa

Patriotic, bacon-filled ice cream. That's how I roll for the fourth.

Fortunately, Nelly's at NewBo City Market can quench the craving. I thought the combination was quite good. After last year's Baconfest, we discovered many tasty bacon-based concoctions. While I enjoyed the bacon cupcakes and bacon beer, this ice cream bacon is a smash hit.

Maybe we'll see it front and center at Baconfest 2014. I might bring some giant strips of bacon down to the Music On The River 4th of July Party at the McGrath Amphitheater on Friday. Just dip 'em in everything. I'm an Iowan. It's the least I can do to represent one of our state's 3 great P's: Porkers, Poker and Prisons.
