The Marion Fire Department is making waves nationally. The department is one of 160 from across the country to receive the 2015 Life Safety Achievement Award.

The award is given to fire departments from cities where there were no fatal fires. There were zero fatal fires in Marion in 2015.

Marion Fire Chief Dan Krebill said that public education and fire prevention are a priority for the department. The department is also being recognized for their programs that teach others about fire prevention.
