The story of fire Lt. Eric Hosette of Clinton is a tragic one. He lost his life last week doing what that life called him to do. A silo exploded as he was working to put out the flames, and he was killed at age 33.

As friends, family, colleagues and citizens across Iowa continue to mourn the tragic death of this hero, one Marion couple is doing something special to help how they can. Mr. Beans Cafe in Marion is offering free meals to Clinton firefighters, police and their families.

It turns out, Clinton is also the hometown of owners Kevin and Tracy Keister. Tracy's brother works at ADM, where the explosion happened. He's fine, but Tracy told KWWL, "We were shocked and sad and just couldn’t believe it".

Clinton and Marion are over an hour apart, but the couple's ties to the community made the Keisters want to offer this gesture of support and love.

Meanwhile, Lt. Hosette's services have been announced, with a public visitation in Clinton at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, January 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. A service to honor his life will be Saturday, January 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Riverview Park Bandshell in Clinton.

Our thoughts continue to be with the Clinton community and Hosette's family and fellow first responders, and we applaud Kevin and Tracy Keister for their efforts.
