This story about Tool entangled in a nasty lawsuit just hit the wires today. We Tool fans have been wondering for a long time [8 years] why our fave band hasn't released any new material. Now we finally know. And I'm pissed.

Whether or not there is more to the delay than just this legal matter is up for debate. What I do know is this: A band in it's prime shot down by some stupid lawsuit is a crime against art. Boston had a simliar 8+ year legal entanglement that delayed their 3rd record. But this is TOOLBAND. The one that's Rocked the Docks at the Sharquarium for 22 years.

What Tool produces is nothing short of the most amazing musical art of our generation. I even use the phrase "Art Rock" when I tell people what kind of tuneage I like. Dream Theater, Queensryche, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Trivium, King's X, Pink Floyd, Mudvayne, Primus and other bands join Tool in this category. Sprawling, supremely technical music + heavy lyrics.

If this lawsuit has deprived us of a couple of Tool records over the last near decade, I hope Maynard, Danny, Adam and Justin release a triple CD to make up for lost time. Sure, Maynard has Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and a nice grape grove in Jerome, AZ to distract him....but I'm ready for some new stuff from the project that put him and the boys on the map.
