Last nights’ hoops: Hawks & Panthers win, Iowa State Falls To Baylor In Big 12 Showdown

This is exciting. I can't remember a better time to be a basketball fan in Iowa. The state's "Big Three" are heating up the frozen tundra.

Iowa, UNI and Iowa State were all in action last night as the NCAA Tournament draws closer.

Deon Mitchell swished 17 to lead #10 UNI to a 68-57 win over Evansville. That sets up a showdown with #11 Wichita State for the Missouri Valley title.

Aaron White led Iowa to a 68-60 win at Carver-Hawkeye Arena last night. The senior forward dumped in 14 consecutive points in the victory.

No. 12 Iowa State fell in a Big 12 battle with Baylor. The Bears hit six consecutive 3-pointers en route to a 79-70 win. The Cyclones had been on a tear at Hilton, winning 21 straight.

I predict one of these teams (hopefully more) will make the Sweet 16 next month. The hoops are outstanding and we should all be proud of these guys, no matter what our in-state allegiance is.
