The weather was absolutely perfect... and it turns out so was everything else. Saturday night (9/19) was a memorable night at Kinnick. Marshall Koehn capped the incredible night with 57-yard field goal as time expired to give the Hawks a 27-24 win over the Pitt Panthers.

The kick and the celebration that ensued were incredible to witness in person. I benefited from free tickets given to me by my brother-in-law. He was treating his family to Disney World... too bad for him. He missed a fun night.

The emotions were high even before the opening kickoff. Former Hawk, Bret Greenwood was honorary captain and led the Hawks onto the field. Greenwood suffered an anoxic brain injury caused by heart arrhythmia back in 2011, shortly after his Iowa playing days were over. The Hawks also had a moment of silence for the recently fallen Roy Marble and Tyler Sash. So it kind of turns out that Koehn had no other choice but to make that kick on this incredible night.

It was the "Black & Gold Spirit Game" at Kinnick. I was in Section 130 (Gold).
