The Cedar Rapids Kernels are off to a solid start in the Midwest League here in 2016. The Kernels, a Class A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, kicked off a 6-game homestand on Tuesday night (4/26) with a 1-0 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Even with the cold weather, home cooking may have been just what the Kernels needed.  They were coming off a tough road trip that saw them go 3-4.  The victory on Tuesday night moved the Kernels record to 11-8. After their 3-game series with West Michigan, the South Bend Cubs will be in town Friday through Sunday.

The Kernels are coming off of a fantastic 2015 season where they came up just short of the Midwest League championship. Games at Veterans Memorial Stadium are always entertaining... great food, promotions, fireworks and much more! Get your tickets now by clicking here.

To add to the excitement of the new season, the Kernels will host the Midwest League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 21st!
