An appliance store known to residents of Johnson County will soon expand with a new store in Cedar Rapids.

The Corridor Business Journal reports that Slager Appliances is set to open its first Linn County store in Cedar Rapids later this month. The new Cedar Rapids store will be at the Westdale Town Center on the Southwest side of Cedar Rapids, according to the CBJ. Construction is already nearly completed on the building at 2380 Edgewood Road SW.

Until now, Slager Appliances' lone location was at 425 Highway 1 West in Iowa City. The family-owned business features appliances of all shapes and sizes, a service department, and will deliver and install your new products to you. The current owner, Tim Slager, is a third-generation owner of the appliance store. According to Your Source News, the business was founded by his grandfather Truman Slager in 1949. It began as a farming hardware store. Slager Appliances is now the largest independent GE dealer and appliance store in Eastern Iowa.

Construction on the new Cedar Rapids store is nearly complete, even the new signage is up and visible. Owner Tim Slager told the CBJ that the new Slager Appliance store should be open by the end of August.
