What puts a smile on your face?
Beating a video game, good concerts and multiple alcoholic beverages.

What fills you with seething rage?
People who think they’re better and deserve more privilege than everyone else. We're all disgusting worm-babies.

Best part about being on the KRNA staff?
It's like extended family you can tolerate... most of the time.  Oh, and free CD's.

What do you do when you're not on the air?
I have been renting tons of movies and TV Series lately.  I love "South Park", "Scrubs", "Lost", "Invader Zim" and "Cowboy Bebop".  I also love to read, write and knit (no, it's not just for your scary aunt!).

Favorite artist:
Graphic Artist: Johnen Vasquez ("Johnny the Homicidal Maniac", "Invader ZIM", etc.), Dave McKean ("Sandman", etc.) or Roman Dirge ("Lenore", etc.)
Music Artist: This changes quite frequently, like hourly.

Movie?
"Cannibal: The Musical" (from the guys who did "South Park"), "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" or anything by Tim Burton, especially "The Nightmare Before Christmas" - I tend toward animation/anime and the like, you know cartoons for big kids. I also love stuff from writer/director Hayao Miyazaki.

Favorite Hollywood hottie?
Ok is it wrong to think Zach Braff is adorable?  I go for the dorky smart guys, yes I know it's just the charcter, but let me have my illusions!

What’s with the hair?
I am the love child of Slash and Janis Joplin? All I know is that I was probably born with a ‘fro. You should see it when it's not heavily sedated. It has been known to devour random body parts, small animals and children.

The Official (and rather boring) Bio

Valerie Hiatt grew up in Washington, Iowa; her father an electric meter repairman and mother a small business owner. Upon completing her first year at the University of Iowa, Valerie took a friend’s advice and became active in local radio where worked for several Iowa stations. Valerie has been through a very unique list of odd, unusual, and interesting jobs; some of which she feels are held with much more glamour and status than they deserve. Among them are: screenwriter, assistant director in film, personal assistant/accountant to a movie producer, assistant librarian, food service, retail sales and factory work. Her hobbies include freelance writing, video games, computers, playing various musical instruments, movies (especially anything animated), live music and reading. Valerie recieved her English BA at the University of Iowa.
