The Iowa Hawkeyes had a magical football season last year. Despite modest expectations entering the season, the team finished 12–2 overall and 8–0 in Big Ten play to win the West Division. After losing a classic to Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship Game, the Hawkeyes were invited to the 2016 Rose Bowl where they were beaten by Stanford. I was at the game providing reports for 94.1 KRNA. Even though we lost, it was a fun week in southern California. Here's my trip down memory lane with photos from the big game! I had to get a picture of the famous Hollywood sign. This is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in the Los Angeles area. The night before the game, I saw Motley Crue at The Staples Center. This might have been the best part of the trip. The show was on New Year's Eve, and it was the final show of their farewell tour. It was pretty cool!

It was surreal to walk into the Rose Bowl Stadium. So much history, so many games. It's a beautiful venue and I had a pretty nice view! Condoleezza Rice was on the sideline, but I was too scared to ask her for a picture. My buddy Rob Brooks was a good stand in. C.J. Beathard answers questions following the game. He wasn't happy, but he's always cool with the media - win or lose. Kirk Ferentz at the post-game podium. We may have lost the game, but his team had an awesome year. We're lucky to have Coach Ferentz in Iowa City. The outcome wasn't what we wanted, but it was pretty cool to see the Hawks in the Rose Bowl. Later that day, I sat by the pool and reflected on a great Hawkeye football season. If the team ever makes it makes it back to Pasadena, I hope I'm able to attend again...It was a blast!
