Happy 40th Birthday, Isaac Brock

Modest Mouse frontman, Isaac Brock turns 40 today. Brock was born July 9, 1975 in Helena, Montana (and shares his birthday with rocker Jack White).  He had an interesting upbringing, living in hippie communes, moving around (Montana, Oregon and Washington), cleaning out meat trucks for work, etc...  He’s been with Modest Mouse since their inception in the mid-90’s.  It had been eight years between studio albums before their terrific sixth studio album, Strangers to Ourselves was released this past March.

Brock is an interesting dude.  His past includes DUI’s, cutting himself on stage, drug use -- hey, rock isn’t always pretty. Maybe you can label him a “troubled genius.”  I think his songwriting and lyrics are incredible though.  And I LOVE the new album.
