Is “The Mayor” Leaving?

Cyclone fans are freaking out. The city of Ames may be on the verge of total collapse. Iowa State University could be done for.

Why?

Fred Hoiberg is likely leaving to coach in the NBA.

All reports indicate that the current Iowa State coach will soon be the former Iowa State coach -- Hoiberg is probably taking the Chicago Bulls job. ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard has already spoken with a search firm about identifying potential candidates for the position.

Hoiberg was a savior for the ISU basketball program. He had the program nationally ranked and was pulling in blue chip recruits left and right. He also had a knack for beating the Hawkeyes.

Nothing is certain yet (though by the time this gets posted it might be), but I know some fans to the east who won't mind seeing Fred take his ball and go somewhere else.
