Just months after the finale of 'The Bachelor,' Chris Soules and his fiance Whitney Bischoff have announced their engagement is off.

The couple, engaged on the finale of the latest installment of 'The Bachelor' just a couple months ago, released a joint statement to Us Weekly. It read, "Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement. They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."

Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss was the first to "break" the news earlier this afternoon, via Twitter:

So that's it. After watching the latest season and gradually coming to the realization that Whitney was best for Chris, and thinking for the life of me that Chris didn't see it, the relationship is over. I still think deep in his heart, Chris wanted Becca to commit to him and a move to Iowa. When she wouldn't, and his family was so set on Whitney, that's the route he went. I don't believe Chris ever really felt like Whitney was the one for him. Then again, I was just a viewer.
