Iowa and Iowa State square off in men's college basketball Friday night. The game is at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, one of the wildest spots to catch a college basketball game. The Cyclones are ranked 17th in the nation, the Hawkeyes are ranked 22nd. This is an in-state rivalry game between two nationally ranked teams. It's the first time both teams have been ranked when facing each other since 1987. Yet, this game finds itself on ESPNU at 8:30 pm. That's right, a channel that many don't have unless you have an expanded sports package. A channel that is the third tier of ESPN's stable of stations. Where's the respect? This is a game pitting two nationally ranked teams. This is a game with implications to the nation's other teams. This is a game that has national interest. I think it deserves true national coverage. If you happen to be one of the many unlucky fans who doesn't have ESPNU, maybe I'll catch you at the local watering hole where I'll be watching it.
