Officials of Iowa Workforce Development have asked us to help make you aware of a phishing scam directed at those filing for unemployment.

Apparently, an email is circulating that appears to come from Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). They assure us it does not. Personal account communications from the organization (IWD) are delivered via the U.S. Postal Service.

So... if you get an email resembling the one below, don't click on ANY of the links... even unsubscribe. Do not provide credit card information, social security information, date of birth... nothing. If you have, you should contact your credit card company and if you fear you may be the victim of identity theft, call the Iowa Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 515-281-5926.

Sender: "Unemployment Assist" <info@unemployment-assist.com>
Subject: Verification Required: 2nd Request

This is our 2nd email is to inform you that we have received your initial request for Unemployment Assistance.

Our system indicated that you did not complete step 2, until you do, we will not be able to offer you any further assistance. You can either cancel your request, and we will delete your information, or you can go back to the registration form to continue.
