The Iowa and Iowa State women's basketball teams are both headed for the NCAA Tournament and the Iowa women not only received a high seed, but will get to play in front of the home crowd.

The Hawks (24-7) are the number three seed in the Oklahoma City region, and with that announcement came word that the Hawkeyes will host the first two rounds at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The first round opens at 11 am Friday with #6 Washington playing #11 Miami of Florida. The Hawkeye women's game follows, at approximately 1:30, against #14 seed American (24-8). The Eagles are from Washington, DC and play in the Patriot League. If you're unable to make it to Iowa City, the game is on ESPN 2. The second round game will be played Sunday with game time to be announced.

This is the Iowa women's 8th straight trip to the tournament... the only Big 10 team to do it during that time. 2015 is also the 3rd straight year the Hawks have hosted NCAA Tournament games. Lisa Bluder and her squad responded with excitement, and rightfully so.

The Iowa State women are making their ninth consecutive trip to the tournament. The Cyclones play in the Albany region, with opening round games in Lexington, Kentucky. The Cyclones (18-12) are the 10 seed and open Friday morning at 11 (Iowa time) against the seven seed Dayton (25-6). The Flyers are from the Atlantic 10 Conference. The game is on ESPN 2.

The state of Iowa now has five team's in the NCAA Tournament. It promises to be a fun week, although with the first game not until Thursday morning (Iowa State men), the next couple days could move a little slow.
