Perhaps one of the best sports stories of 2018 came to a sad end at the beginning of 2019. 20-year-old Purdue student Tyler Trent passed away Tuesday after a battle with bone cancer.  It was his fourth battle with osteosarcoma.

Trent gained national attention after being featured on ESPN where he predicted back in October that Purdue would upset highly ranked Ohio State. Against the odds, Purdue won 49-20. They dedicated the victory to Tyler who was at the game with his family. The hashtag #TylerStrong would then rise to national prominence.

Tyler and his family led the Purdue crowd in 'The Wave' for the kids at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital when the Hawkeyes visited Purdue this season. Tonight, the Iowa men's basketball team will help honor Tyler's memory.

Both Iowa and Purdue will wear #TylerStrong t-shirts before the game at Mackey Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear theirs as well. It should make for a very emotional setting as the Hawkeyes visit Purdue tonight.

Game time is 6 p.m. and it will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
