The old Iowa State Fair Grandstand Stage has been tore down and is now being renovated to provide a better concert experience, with work exptected to be completed by the summer of 2018.

Along with a new stage, the grandstand seating will be expanded to accommodate 4,000 more fans. This move could potentially help the Iowa State Fair attract even bigger artists to it's outdoor summer schedule.

According to KCRG, the Iowa State Fair Marketing Director Mindy Williamson said "Many of the acts today have much bigger sets...they need (more) space...this new stage will allow for them to set up like they do in other venues."

Hopefully the new expansion will lead to some more and bigger classic rock acts. I'd love to see Aerosmith there in 2018!
