Update 2:25pm: Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard is being transferred to Des Moines Methodist Hospital this afternoon for continuing care and treatment following a heart attack he suffered Monday afternoon. He will have open heart surgery later in the week in Des Moines.

Pollard has released a statement saying, "It has been overwhelming to have received so many messages of support. Our family is so appreciative of the uplifting and encouraging thoughts and prayers.”

The Iowa State Sports Information Department reports that Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard suffered a heart attack yesterday afternoon in Cedar Falls. Pollard was reportedly watching his daughters compete in the Girls Varsity Invitational track meet on the UNI Campus when he was stricken.

Pollard was taken by ambulance to Allen Hospital in Waterloo where he is still hospitalized. Jamie is 50-years-old and has been Iowa State's Athletic Director since 2005.

Iowa State's President Steven Leath has appointed Senior Associate Athletics Director David Harris as acting AD during Pollard's absence. Iowa State Sports Information has announced more details will be shared as they become available.

Our prayers to Jamie and his family at this time.
