Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery announced today that he's signed a sixth and final recruit for the 2015 class. The newest member of the Iowa Hawkeyes is a young man familiar with Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Dale Jones has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa. Jones, a native of Waterloo, played at Waterloo West High School from 2008-12, and has played at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas the last two years. He was a team captain this past season and Honorable Mention All-American. During his sophomore campaign, Jones averaged 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. He shot 45 percent from 3-point range (99-of-218) and was an 84 percent free throw shooter (99-of-118).

Jones is 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward. During his freshman season in 2013, he averaged 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He missed the 2014 season due to injury. He will be starting his junior campaign this fall at Iowa.

During his senior season at Waterloo West, Jones was second-team and third-team all-state by the Iowa Newspaper Association and Des Moines Register, respectively, while also being named all-conference.

Coach McCaffery said in a press release from the University of Iowa, “Dale is a versatile front court player who can score, rebound and shoot at a high percentage. He played for one of the top junior colleges and coaches in the country in Mike Marquis. This is a great opportunity for Dale to come back home. We’re thrilled that he’s going to be a Hawkeye.”
