Iowa Man Witnesses Crash, Ends Up Charged with Felony

A central Iowa man saw a crash happen Tuesday night, but what he did next put him in jail.

A mid-evening accident Tuesday at the corner of Hubbell Ave. and 34th Ave. NW in Altoona started innocently enough for 56-year-old Steven Webb of Pleasant Hill.

According to Altoona Police, Webb saw the accident happen and one of the drivers involved, reportedly, tried to leave the scene. WHO then says Webb is accused of beating one of the drivers until he was unconscious. The man is 41-year-old Joshu Mrzena of Bondurant.

Mrzena is in a central Iowa hospital with serious injuries and Webb has been charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a felony. He's being held at the Polk County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
