You probably think that if you're fortunate enough to win at the Iowa Lottery, you have good luck. It turns out some lottery winners have bad luck after having their social security numbers posted online.

The Iowa Lottery says that nearly 3,000 social security numbers of lottery winners of $600 or more in 2011 were sent to a member of the media as part of an open records request. Those numbers were accessible on a website for 10 days until Sunday afternoon when someone alerted lottery officials and they were taken down.

The social security numbers were not immediately visible to visitors to the website but could be revealed through another step.
