Authorities in central Iowa are investigating a tragedy involving an infant. An 11-month-old baby died in Bagley, Iowa last Friday night after the boy's mother reportedly left the room while giving the little one a bath.

According to KWWL, the Guthrie County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call at around 8:20 p.m. Friday, August 10. The caller reported an unresponsive child in a home in the small town that had a population of just 303 in the 2010 census.

The boy's mom told Guthrie County Sheriff's Deputies she was bathing the boy and left for a short time. When she came back into the room, he was in the tub, unresponsive.

CPR was administered at the scene, but the boy did not survive. To this point, no charges have been filed against the boy's mother. KCCI has identified her as Seaira Briceno.
