What is going on, people?

CBS 2 reports a viewer told them that the restaurant, Stella, in Iowa City charged double the cover price Saturday night for people who voted for Donald Trump. They also say an employee of the restaurant confirmed the varying prices.

Eric Stetler of Cedar Rapids left Saturday night's Iowa-Michigan football game at halftime and went to the restaurant. He tells CBS 2, "As we got closer to the door, we noticed there was a sign on the door that said, 'Yes, this is discrimination, but you voted for it.' "If you voted for Trump, you had to pay $10 to come in. If you voted for Hillary, it was $5 to come in,” according to Stetler. They did not go in.

CBS 2 has been unsuccessful in efforts to reach the owner of Stella.

Ok, time for me to hop up on the soapbox. Aren't we better than this? Shouldn't we be better than so many of the things we've seen in the last week? It's 2016. You want to believe prejudice and discrimination are improving in America to the point they will soon be words we don't hear or use. You want to believe that we're willing to hear other people, listen to other people and respect not only their views but them as people. Unfortunately, what we've learned over the last week is that apparently when things don't go the way they want them to, way too many people show their true colors. This is America. This is the land of opportunity. This is the land of the free. Sit down and think about that for a minute. We're incredibly lucky to live here and we should really stop to realize that and start acting like we appreciate it. And, we need to become tolerant, to love, and to make this country as great as it can be because right now, I'm not very proud of many of its people.
