One of the world's most enduring stories of the human condition is coming to the local stage when Iowa City Community Theatre presents "The Elephant Man", opening Friday, February 23.

The ICCT's Facebook Event page gives us a description of this captivating stage production:

Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play in 1979 and again in 2015 for Best Revival of a Play, The Elephant Man, is a compelling and enduring story based on the life of Joseph Merrick, who lived in Victorian London and was known for the extreme deformity of his body. The beauty of this production is in its simplicity of style. The play uses no prosthetics. It allows us to use our imagination. Glorifying the triumph of the human spirit, The Elephant Man has been hailed by The New York Times as a "startling act of magic."
