Iowa forward Cordell Pemsl has undergone surgery that will keep the sophomore to be out of action for several weeks. Pemsl had to have a sports hernia repaired. The procedure will keep Pemsl sidelined for about eight weeks.

The time off will mean that Pemsl will not participate in the Prime Time League this summer. The good news is that he is expected to be back when the Hawks travel to Germany in August.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery confirmed that the surgery went well and that the team looks forward to having him back on the court soon.

Pemsl averaged nearly 10 points and 5 rebounds per game as a freshman.
