Is it the end of the popular drink known as 'The Moscow Mule'? It is if the drink is served in a copper mug.

The state of Iowa is reminding bars and restaurants that they need to comply with the FDA rule that states copper may not come into contact with foods and beverages that have a pH balance below 6. That list includes vinegar, fruit juice, wine, and the Moscow Mule which is served in a copper mug.

High levels of copper can be poisonous and can cause food borne illnesses when it comes into contact with foods and beverages. So can you still order and enjoy a Moscow Mule? As long as the copper cup is lined with another material like nickel or stainless steel. Something to remember the next time you belly up to the bar!
