The Cedar Rapids urban deer hunt ended for bow hunters on January 10th. For the first time, hunters could donate meat to local charities. The city says that this year hunters took a total of 146 deer.

Officials say 24 of those deer were donated to charities to help feed the hungry in Cedar Rapids and Linn County. Hunters got to choose which charity the deer would go to. This year local charities like 'Help Us Stop the Hunger', the Food Bank of Iowa, and the Mission of Hope were among the choices.
