KCRG TV-9 is reporting that a Cedar Rapids squad car was involved in a hit and run over the weekend. The accident happened Saturday night in the 1200 block of Collins road NE, in front of the Marriot.

According to a news release, the officer was parked behind a vehicle that was about to be towed. That's when the squad car was hit and the driver fled the scene. According to KCRG TV-9, "The vehicle was a gold or brown Nissan and law enforcement believes the driver was a white female.

The officer was taken to the hospital after the accident. Thankfully, his injuries aren't life threatening. What a scary situation this had to be. Let's hope for a quick recover for the officer involved.
