A Hippie With Soul: Allen Stone

The NewBo Music Festival is two weeks from this Saturday. It's almost here. You can buy your tickets online.

Seven bands will play across the day, including the headliner, Young The Giant. People are really hyped about YTG, and rightfully so, but the hidden gem might be performing right before them.

Allen Stone hails from Chewelah, Washington, a small town about 45 minutes north of Spokane. The self-described "hippie with soul" has been garnering attention since his 2011 self-titled album, Allen Stone.

Stone has an R&B/soul/folk vibe. My favorite Stone-jam is "Upside." The dude is on a mash-up groove, incorporating a variety of styles throughout his music. His latest album, Radius, is building on the momentum. He's performed on Conan, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Late Night with Seth Myers.
