Yes, the loss to Iowa State was a big bummer. The Hawks got back into the win column on Saturday night with a 70-64 win over Drake. It definitely wasn't easy. It was a tie game at halftime, but Mike Gesell's 17 points and big dunk in the final minute helped Iowa move their record to 8-3. Redshirt freshman Nicholas Baer added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Hawks.

Next up for Iowa are the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Tuesday, December 22nd. That will be the final tune-up for the Hawks before they open Big Ten play against Michigan State on December 29th at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Of course, a lot of attention on Iowa athletics is still focused on the football team. After the Rose Bowl game on January 1, the focus will turn to the hardwood and a busy Big Ten schedule. Let's hope the Fran's boys can have half the success that Kirk's boys have had this year!
