Hawkeye Hoopster Lands Cover of Sports Illustrated [PHOTO]

A member of the Iowa men's basketball team has landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the first time in decades. See the photo below.

Iowa senior, and Cedar Rapids Jefferson graduate, Jarrod Uthoff is the first Iowa men's basketball player to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated since George Peeples January 24, 1966. That's right, 50 years ago! Uthoff leads the Big Ten in scoring at 18.6 points per game. He and his Hawkeye teammates face Penn State Wednesday night at 6 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will be televised by ESPNU.

This is the first time in Iowa history that both the football program and men's basketball team have been featured on Sports Illustrated covers in the same season. Here's a look back at the football cover from the end of November.
