Scott Richard Kline was born October 27, 1967 in San Jose, CA. At the age of 5, his surname was changed to "Weiland" after being adopted by his stepfather. He would burst onto the world stage in 1992 at the age of 24 with his band, Stone Temple Pilots and their debut album, Core.

Weiland and STP hummed along for about a decade before breaking up in 2002.  Well, maybe "hummed along" is a stretch.  Weiland battled drug addiction and even did jail time in the 1990's. The band did get huge even with Weiland's troubles and the accusations of the band being a Pearl Jam rip-off.  STP's high-water mark arguably came with the release of their second album, Purple in 1994.

After STP's initial break-up in '02, Weiland spent a few years in the supergroup, Velvet Revolver.  By 2008, Weiland and STP reunited, performed concerts and released their self-titled sixth studio album in May 2010.  However, by 2012 the band was having serious issues yet again.  Weiland was officially fired from STP in February 2013, and soon Chester Bennington was handling vocal duties for the band.

Weiland also had solo albums along the way, a divorce, a domestic violence charge (that was eventually deferred), and the occasional battle with drugs.  Rock n' roll isn't always pretty.  The most recent noise from Weiland was this past spring when Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts released the album, Blaster.
