Aaron Lewis turns 43 today.  Lewis was born in Vermont and grew up in Massachusetts.  He met guitarist Mike Mushok in the early 90’s, they formed Staind and started playing clubs where they covered Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Tool and others.  By late ’96, they self-released their debut album Tormented.

Bigger success came with their major label debut, Dysfunction in 1999.  The album featured the successful singles, “Mudshovel” and “Home”.  Their breakthrough album, Break the Cycle, came in May 2001.  The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and went on to sell over 5 million copies in the U.S. thanks to the hit singles, “It’s Been a While” and “Fade”.

Lewis has dabbled in country music with his 2011 EP, Town Line and his 2012 full-length, The Road.
