They're already honored across the nation each May, but now they'll get their due in the state of Iowa as well.

Governor Terry Branstad will proclaim May "Egg Month" in the state of Iowa, by signing a proclamation in Des Moines this morning.

May is National Egg Month but it's especially fitting for recognition in Iowa, the top egg-producing state in the entire country. 16.5 billion eggs are laid in Iowa each year, generating $2.36 billion in sales, according to stats from the Iowa Egg Council, reported by WHO-TV.

Have some eggs today... lunch, dinner, they're good anytime, right?

My personal favorite is deviled eggs, with scrambled a close second. What's your favorite?

Deviled eggs.
